# history utc

## Syntax

```
[no] history <instance> utc
```

## Syntax Description

<table><thead><tr><th width="203">Keyword</th><th>Description</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><code>no</code></td><td>(Optional) Use the local time zone instead of UTC.</td></tr><tr><td>instance</td><td>The history instance to be modified. If the specified instance does not exist, it will be created unless the no keyword was also specified. Must be alphanumeric.</td></tr></tbody></table>

## Defaults

The default is to use the local time zone for history file names and timestamps.

## Usage Guidelines

This command causes UTC time to be used for history file names and for any dates and times in the history records.

## Examples

```
history myhist3 utc
```
